Dear Wine Lovers,
Welcome back to the the "Wine Lovers Corner Blog". How are you today?
Sunny spring is coming, the trees are being reborn and we should celebrate that with one of the most concentrated wine that I've ever tasted in my life.
Today we're taking a trip in Abruzzo, a wonderful Italian region not particularly noted but really really awesome.
Abruzzo is an ancient land located in the in the heart of our peninsula, with amazing uncontaminated nature, woods and the marvellous "Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo" (Abruzzo National Park) a little "Yosemite National Park" here in Italy (bears included).
Here in Abruzzo, on the green hills overlooking the Adriatic sea, there is a little town named "San Martino sulla Marruccina" and here we find a historical wine house: "Azienda Agricola Masciarelli".
The Masciarelli family has been producing one of my favourite red (black) wines:
Villa Gemma Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
Guys, we're talking about a really spectacular wine!
Produced with 100% of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grapes, 24 months in new oak barrels and all the magic of the Abruzzo climate and the talent of the winemaker.
This wine is a "King", in the glass, in its appearance it's powerful, with an inpenetrable body and with a black-ruby-violet-red that I'm sure you've not ever found in other red wines anywhere else in the world.
Really intense, spicy, fruity and extremely flowery, oh... I love that!
Some advice: Drink only with a right foods that match it, this wine is really complex and it needs a good "fellow traveller"; some suggested dishes could be: roast meat (maybe red meat mixed with game), strong cheeses, dark chocolate.
Open it at least two hours before the tasting and this wine is also good for meditation, of course.
Try it before the hot summer comes and you'll never forget it.
Hugs and see you soon,
Angelo D'Alessandro
